The Kakadu trip concluded with a full day canoe trip on the Katherine River (actually outside Kakadu Park), and then back through the park to Darwin. I added two full days of snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. There, in addition to the marvellous underwater sights, I saw humpback whales.

These rapids are not very large, but none of us canoed any kind of rapids before.

Andrew (oldtiger) > A fresh water crocodile, well camuflaged on a log at the water's edge.. These are much smaller than the dangerous salt water crocks. They are rather shy, and generally harmless to humans.

Andrew (oldtiger) > Paddling through one of the rapids. This photo shows the end of it; I stood on the shore after doing the same a few minutes earlier.
